How about if I put it this way,

One year, from now the silver aro that the OP has just bought will be 24". So that will be 17" of growth over the next 12 months. You did catch that the aro is already 7" long right?

thanks and bderick67...yes i bought him at about 6-7". he was not eating pellets for the first 2 days so i decided to feed him freeze dried krill and he is eating like a pig. ill try feeding him pellets in a few weeks when he is all sttled in so i dont stress him right now. he is also very skittish around people, so im trying to get him used to people sitting/moving around the tank.

nice fishes...i had this combo until 2 months back for about a year and a half..i got rid of the ck recently... all the fishes grew together but wen the ck hit the 15inch mark it started to bully the aro at night..you should keep an eye on that..ck get really active in the night...good luck with your fishes..

I hafta agree with bderick, my silver went from a wee little guy the ops size to 2' in a year easily.

thanks guys. i know that the arowana will get 3+ and will plan accordingly. smartlove, i already noticed last night the ck was bullying the arowana. i will add more/rearrange hiding places/plants for the ck. there are 2 large driftwood and a medium size rock in the tank.

Congrats!! U have one awesome set up. Yeah, thats a nice part of getting fish like that, it allows u to upgrade which is what i'll be doing in a year or so. I noticed one night my CK was a little and when I say a little I mean a little, he was bullying my lima shovelnose. WHich was suprising cuz he's never done it and I've kept an eye on him and havent seen him do it again. Worst comes to worse, I'll just leave the tank light on, that will fix the Ck's wagon lol

gars and slivers can sometimes fight over the top half of the tank but as long as there well feed they should be fine.
