My one teacher had one that was brutal to everything, he had to give it away. They had 2 at an LFS but I only have a 70 to house it and it seems to smallThink of them as the Oscars of Madagascar. Enormous personality and appetite. They're really more like a South American fish than a typical African Rift cichlid. They're also very hardy and can accept a vast array of water chemistry and they're absolutely beautiful. I intend on starting a harem of them once I move into my house this year![]()
Good idea, I'm ordering a palmas subspecie soon, or a del or whatever appeals most to me. Due to budget i'm sticking at one lolYes, very much into bichirs! They don't really bother anyone that isn't snack-sized or another bichir, and that interspecies aggression is hit or miss depending on the personality of the bichir. I think Ornates can be a little more aggressive to other bichirs in general, from what I've read, but if you just want one (which is hard to do, they are addictive IMO) an Ornate would be cool. They are beautiful. Of course many people keep ornates with others, too. The poly peeps can help set you up for success if you want a few including an ornate.
I do plan on having my someday Polleni with a pile of polys.![]()
