You are using pressure treated plywood in a pet enclosure? That sounds like a very bad idea to me. You have nothing to gain from the pressure treating, and the chemicals cant be good for your lizard. Heck, I wouldnt want that stuff anywhere inside my home period. What is your thinking behind that?

No splinters, and the people at Loes said the regular ply wood would get mold and mildew very easy.

Well in that case I have to go all the way back to Loes and buy a regular slab of plywood That was a complete waste of time and I'm very pissed off at the lack of knowledge given by the workers there, they knew I was using this for a reptile enclosure and they still recommended pressure treated plywood.

no offense, but thats on you. people at lowes shouldnt know what to give you for your reptile tank. you should.

you honestly expect people who work in a home store to know which of their products is reptile safe? I prefer cork bark anyway, easy to work with and build good hides.

Well I asked if there were any potentially dangerous chemicals in the wood and they told me they would soak the wood in a safe chemical that is harmless to animals. Is the Ackie going to get sick or die from sitting on it?

No, I felt that this man knew enough to where I didn't have to. He was the manager of the store so I felt there was no need to ask.

The treated wood is fine several people have fabricated enclosures with them. How is tap water detrimental to reptile health?

at least where I live the levels of chlorine and chloramines is to much for reptiles and must be removed first, ex: dechlorinator, because it is harmful to the reptiles.

Is this a theory? Or is there documentation of your local tap water actually being the cause of death of pet reptiles in your area?
