Guys if you are wondering as to WHERE to get one here are a few options. 1.) get in contact with a Malaysian vendor maybe through your LFS vendor list. They seem to have many short bodies out that way. OPTION 2.) i have seen 1 short body RTC on aquabid going for $750 but when buying online you gotta watch out. (Especially at that price LOL!) and keep in mind that LOTS of RTC have deformities that may make them LOOK short body but unless it is a "Proven" fish i would not trust it. OPTION 3.) if you have a LFS that has TONS of baby RTC look through them to see if any of them show signs of SB characteristics. And if one does buy it. Grow it out until you can tell if more charactaristics are coming in. That 3rd option i would not recommend though because you will 9/10 times end up with a normal RTC then you will have a dish you can not house. And ALSO keep in mind even if it "ONLY" grows to 20"... Well, my old 16" RTC took down a 12" oscar so a 20" short body still IS a RTC and RTCs WILL eat everything you put them with. A 20" RTC can take down 90% of fish in this hobby. The ONLY advantages you get is a smaller adult tank size (which will STILL be at LEAST 1,000 gallons) AND some people might find it to be "cute" because it looks weird... And honestly if I was going to put all that dedication into getting an RTC anyways, why not just put in a bit more effort to get a real full size RTC. Sure u will not have to spend as much TIME cating for a short body but it makes up for that in the time it actually takes to FIND ONE LOL! Don't get me wrong short body rtcs are really cool and all and if i could just walk right into any fishstore and get one for a good price i would in a heartbeat but i honestly just do not see taking all the time to find one and spending tons of money. Well... That is my opinion guys.
