New camera, I have a lot to learn!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you all very much, I appreciate all of the help. Gobucks1, thanks and I am sorry for your pour taste in teams. :p

I am still waiting for the refund from B&H. The guy told me it would take less than an hour to get my money back through paypal so I could place the new order. I called last night and spoke to a lady there. She informed me that after the refund was issued that it had to go to their accounting department the following day. The refund will then be issued through paypal either that day or the next. I'm a little bummed about it since if I had known this I would not have had the order canceled. It will all work out in the end though.

Woohoo, lens and flash ordered. I ended up paying for second day shipping so I will have them by the weekend. Next.....macro lens. :D

Not wanting to pour water on the flames, but imo you should get to know your camera and settings first before you go out and buy more kit. It just gives you way too many options whilst you trying to learn things.

For me I want a telephoto lens and a macro lens but I'll wait until I'm truly limited by my equipment. I worked my old P+S into the ground learning and trying new things with it so I got a camera that would go way over the top for me.

I'm not suggesting that you curb your newly found passion just advising caution that's all:)

I understand what you are saying but I have to disagree to a point. Today I was outside trying to take some pictures of a woodpecker and some other birds. The only problem was that I was finding it extremely difficult to get within ten feet of the birds to take a picture of them. I hate to limit myself to only being able to take close pictures or pictures of large objects until I figure the camera out (five years from now). :)

And sometimes buying new toys gives you the urge to learn things!

I understand your point and I'm glad you read the post in the way it was intended.

I just returned my Canon Rebel XS camera to wal-mart and then headed over to Ritz Camera. While I was there I purchased a Canon Rebel T1i. It should be pretty sweet, I am really looking forward to playing with it here in a little bit after the battery finishes charging.

Here is a link to it. http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/541163754.htm?bct=t1134

I was tempted to pick up the EOS 50D but I just couldn't justify the extra money. On top of that the 50D doesn't do 1080 hd video like the T1i. :D

not too bad for first time using.... pratice and research makes perfect :)

Here are a few pictures using the new new camera. :)
