i have found that if you get them really small they are a pain to get eating.

How long does it usually take before they start eating? Mine still aren't eating, though I'm really not too worried about it. My aro didn't eat for the first time in my tank until two weeks after I got it, then a week later, it went on a three-week fast, so I'm kind of used to having fish refuse to eat.

Good luck with the limas. Mine went from not eating anything but shrimp for the year i had him, to just the other day attacking every single thing i threw in the tank, especially the koi pellets. Right now mines around 9in.
