I thought i'd show ff a few pic's of the new Channa Gachua I just Picked up.

First the tank from a few angles lol.

The water level is several inches below the top of the tank (help discourage escape) I used electrical tape to black out that space to take pic's.

For anyone curious here's what it looks like when you look from above through the hood. Th floating leaves make great cover and also good hides for any smaller or injured Channa who wan to stay out of sight, hides with easy air access lol.

Awesome shots and setup as always Dev :)

Thanks everyone !

They were sold only as channa gaucha , no labeled variant or locality. They have the blue and red under the eye which most Indian variants have so I'd say they were out of india . I've seen pictures of the parents of these and they looked similar to others that I've seen labeled as "Bengal" or "Bengal blue".

I have 11 of them in there I should get a few pairs out of the group, some already have nice blue and red markings developing on their faces. Now it's just a waiting game for them to grow and pair off.

i was thinking bengal blue as well, The eyespot on the fin is pretty characteristic of juv bengal blues

Nice setup DC.
They look tiny. What size are they roughly now?
I know that there are a few gachua sp. that have the ocellated spot when young. Will be interesting to watch them grow. Keep us updated.

Thanks ! They are tiny 1.5-2" but growing visibly every day. They devour tiny meal worms and/or chopped up larger meal worms wont take them long to grow. That little tank's also been running forever lot's of little microscopic critters living in the substrate and on the decore. Not sure what it is they were hunting but for the first day all of them were snapping at the decore and substrate clearly eating something tiny that i couldn't see. Most were fat off whatever it was they were hunting before I even offered the first meal lol.
