New Channa Gachua growout (Picture heavy)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thought i'd share some new updated pic's,

All pic's of the female, she is down to just one tank mate now. Hopefully a mate she wont eat! He doesn't come out in the open as much and sticks to his hiding spot when I approach the tank. But here's the female who never hides and has started developing some nice colors !

Thanks, I only ended up with 1 pair.

Dispite my high hopes I woke up one morning and she had cleaned that tank out over night. left only one male who hadn't been touched , i managed to save only 1 other who took a few bites but recovered quickly.

Unfortunately the peace didn't last long and she attacked her "mate" during feeding, I separated them leaving her alone and putting him in with the other survivor who he promptly killed lol. So now i have 2 solo tanks one male, one female. I'm letting the male catch up a bit in size then I'm going to re-introduce them into a larger tank and see what happens, I still think it's a pair he was just half her size and the combo of a small tank and feeding excitement she was too rough on him .

Here's the female again, I can't seem to get the angle right to show it but the blue on her cheek goes right down the side like a blue layer over the brown . The Males smaller and shy and hasnt colored up as much but i can't wait too see him in mature color!

Another update on the pair , I re-introduced the 2 of them today into a new home , reintroduction went well, they went straight too each other, spun around a few times then settled in then a feast or meal worms a couple minutes later.

It's a 35g I'll be slowly lowering the water line, It's heavily planted with, anubias , some java fern, african fern Bolbitis heudelotii & Weeping moss Vesicularia ferriei (it's tied to many of the branches it spread thinly now but should look awesome once it catches) , in the substrate i've planted some Micro swords, and floating in the back corners I have some sort of Anacharis .

I also have a couple half coconut shells buried out of site in the back of the tank for hides with some oak leaf litter and alder cones.

Let me know what you think!

And for the first time i think here's the male, Finally put on some size and is starting to color up, He's got alot more red on him then the female and although it doesn't show in the pic he has a baby blue iridescence down his whole body..

Thanks! So far so good. They went all day yesterday only saw her chase him across the tank once, and i think that was over a meal worm they were both going for lol. Other then that no real aggression and they made it through the night without any fights both seem calm and no ripped fins!
