Is this a DIY wet/dry filter? Is it ghetto?

Still working on setting up the 125. Substrate (african cichlid) looks really good! Thanks MMP. Now I am in the process of building like a rock wall along the back of the tank. Got a ton of rocks all cleaned and even boiled! But now I am nervous.

I have a nice like new stand for the tank, but it is a store bought fish tank stand. The support it gives the tank looks so cheesy. I keep telling myself that they wouldnt sell these things if they werent safe........................right?

Now I have around 300lbs of rock (not really sure how much I will use) to add more weight to the stand. I even thought of reinforcing the stand but I am not sure that it would be possible seeing how it is built.

Do I have anything to worry about?

yea thanks AJ, for the most part all my fish are super healthy and vibrant and grow fast eat like pigs
now only if i could have a 240 gallon and get some more fish

I had a killer deal on a 8ft. 180 last week with stand, you should've jumped on it----was asking only $200 for board members, and ended up selling it for $250 through craiglist (still a steal of a deal, was asking $300 there)
