Cool! Feel free to post some pix! Mine were eating just a few hours after shipment. I fed them some nls pellets
Here they are. Got them from Ira yesterday. Eating crushed hikari bio-gold+. There are 2 and they both looks different, so I believe I have a M&F. We'll have to wait and see.

Cich wit it yours look fantastic! Wouldn't expect anything less from Ira. Good luck with them!

I'm growing them out in a 75g atm, with 1 rotkeil sev and 5 small clown loaches. The sev and loaches will join my community tank while the ornatum will go into a new home, which I haven't got yet. I plan on 200g+ for a pair. What are you guys plans for yours?

Hi mate! Jeff rapps e-mailed me telling me he had 1 single male at 16inch" but knowing jeffs fish"" they run out a little small to whot he says!

id say 10 inch is a good male size in the aquarium!

Cute Jonny (not)

I guess they made my 55 gal tanks especially slim just for me.
Funny, I thought they were uniform in width... The latter being the case, these fish were indeed longer and way longer, respectively, than the tanks are wide.

this would be a 10" fish ;)

thank you! they are so active, watching them in that video makes me sick it moves so much, lol.

anyone with ornatus specially juvies feel free to post your experiences, there is not a lot of info out there on this species, thank Jeff Rapps, ira, and others for bringing them into the states!

I have a strong feeling that they are very closely related to festae. both are collected in ecuador/colombia if i am not mistaken? i thought i read that somewhere but i cannot find the thread or page to confirm that statement. festae was deemed Amphilophus, maybe ornatus should be the same? any thoughts?
