Congrats on the great fish! Its amazing how these were so hard to get and now they are available at great prices! Gotta love the hobby and how it changes! :)

one of the reasons why im selling mine so cheap. im just trying to help spread these guys out so ppl dont have to pay ridiculous prices.

nice juvies freebyrd

well it has been about 3 weeks since i last posted a video. 30% water changes a day sure gets tiring but its proven to be very healthy for the fish. their growth rate so far seems to be better than the festae, they do grow faster. i really do believe these two races - ornatum and festae - are closely related. i also added the 3d background to the 75 growout to see how it effected the colors the fish expressed. again i have white pool filter sand substrate, and had a bare pictureless background, now the 3d one from designs by nature, designsbynature.net

enjoy

Nice tank freebyrd :) was that hard to install? I would like to do something like that, but don't know how to do it or where to get it from...

Designsbynature.net is where i got that one, it was about $50, $8 shipping to virginia. it was very easy to install, i just did my water change and when it was low i slid it down in there. it is very bouyant so the lip of the tank holds in it place and you just move your substrate away from the back glass and then move it back when you put the background in. E-Z-P-Z :)

its really cool to watch the plecos and loaches checking the cracks in the rocks to see if they can find just one little crumb of food :) it really brought the color back out in the ornatus too

Here is one of mine taken a month or so ago, and have gotten a little bigger since. Some folks keep talking about them being very aggressive but I haven't witnessed this yet with mine. So far very docile but mine are still small at about 6 inches and the male still hates the female.

Thanks freebyrd, they have different styles, could you tell me what name they call your background, also did you have to use any glue? Did you have to the background to fit? Do it come loose sometimes?

im not sure of the name of it, but it came as 3 pieces, i didnt have to cut anything or use any type of silicone or glue at all, the bouyancy of the background keeps it in place, and i installed it while doing a water change it was very simple. and no it doesnt ever come loose, i dont think it ever would either its pretty tight, the bouyancy makes it tight to the lip of the tank and the substrate holds the bottom in place, no worries!

driftwood your ornatus looks nice! when did his pearls start to show? mine are juuuust barely visable now. their aggression is mild, if you watch the whole video you'll see them nip and chase eachother away, but i have yet to see how they do as young adults

i have had no problems with bloat at all, i would get atro's AND ornatum. get some of both grow em out see what u like more. i want some atro's too :D

I'd like to get some of the small ornatum but am definitely fearful of the bloat thing but if they are like there cousin festae in that regard they shouldn't be as bad as say..Haitensis.
