I'd like to get some of the small ornatum but am definitely fearful of the bloat thing but if they are like there cousin festae in that regard they shouldn't be as bad as say..Haitensis.

Hmm... Ive never seen bloat with festae, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen to some people. as far as the bloat thing goes, I havent had any issues with my festae or ornatums. all are very healthy:) The haits are prone to bloat, but i believe it has to do with the quality of fish and the how its cared for by the hobbiest. I think you will be very happy with either ornatums or atros... or both;) but definitely get some bro.

freebyrd- great looking ornatums bro:) nice thread too. keep the pics coming guys. I also believe that ornatums are closely related to festae, kinda like cyanos and carpintis:)

I had 6 1.5" from jeff...4 bloated and died. The I got 2 females and one male 7-8"...and the one female killed the mail. This suxs lol...I'm thinking I want another large male and some more juv. I think these guys are awesome looking.

As far as aggression...guys with the larger ones...you see the teath these guys sport! My female that killed the male also attempted to kill a argenta I had in the same tank. The argenta got past the devider and payed for it. The 2 remaining small ones get along fin by them selves. I think they look different too so I'm hoping I get a m and f out of them. One has more blue specks on the face and black blotches. The other has less blue on the face and more of black bars. I know tue females bar and males don't. But it also might be a less Dom thing too. Time will tell.
