Great job, I personally dont think you need more K1; it might impair the mobility of it. Your tank also doesnt look overstocked and the K1 provides ample BB. If you wish to beef up the BB, I personally like Seachem Matrix, you can place a lot of it in the intake or pump sides. It also has been proven to reduce nitrates when always submerged.

I think i can comfortably fit another 20L in that area though. Its very loosely fluidized currently. I'm going to get 50L, and add a bit at a time over a few days. At 50L, my current stocking/feeding levels are fine.. but that will change soon.

I wont be adding any other type of media to the tank. Just K1. Im loving the idea that its self cleaning..

I have a ton of extra bio-balls here, and around 35-40 pounds of ceramic media, but i wont be adding either of those either.

This is very very interesting. I'm learning a ton from your videos - this and the LED and acrylic (which I found elsewhere, not through here) ones. They take a little longer to watch than reading, but the three dimensions make it so easy to learn from.

Now you've got me wanting to try something like this. The noise of the huge pump and the volume of air kind of scares me off though. Do you think there'd be a way to make a modified FB filter that runs silently? Just thicker walls and a tight lid?

which model air pump did you use and how loud is it compared to the bubble noise?

I got the PondMaster AP-60.

It is now much more silent now that it has been "worked" in.

The bubble noise is minimal.

I'll have a new video soon, and you'll be able to compare to the last videos.

Im Glad you got something from my videos. Thats exactly what they are for!

The size of the pump i got was simply just too big. I didnt need one that big at all, but i had no idea what i needed besides what is recommended. I tend to over buy most things. The smaller models are suppose to be much quieter.

For a quieter filter like this.... you basically just do the same thing i did, except dont get such a big pump! Too tight of a lid will not allow for proper gas exchange.
