saw your recent pictures of your 29; you have a good set up; and also read your posts of your plans. All looks good. I'm still sorry you didn't keep the orange con because it's pretty rare at least where i'm from. But, the thing you need to watch for is aggression, because you are keeping CA cichlids; which can be aggressive. Jack Dempsys and cons will get territorial, and fights may get serious. I know you have a senegal bichir (saw the recent pics, cute), and I have one as well. Believe me, mine went from your size to 5" in a few months. He (i'm guessing) is pretty mellow usually, but I did see him chasing my other cichlids around already, and senegals and all bichirs will grow to about a foot long. also, because right now, yours is just a baby, and probably shy and hiding all the time, make sure you feed him enough. That was my issue when I was caring for my bichir.

Just be observant, and very good job, and good luck to you.

Oh, the other thing was about your plec; I doubt you have one of those that only grows to three inches long, and probably have one of those reg. plecs, and they can and will grow large although very slowly, but they still produce a lot of waste, and that's another reason why I felt more comfortable if you have a bigger tank. From your tank pics, your water looks nice and clean, so you have a decent filter i hope.

Keep the tiger barbs in the ten, put some plants in. Annubias are my plants of choice because they don't need too much light, and are tough. Tiger barbs are also interesting, and you can probably put it into the 29 as dither fish FOR NOW anyway and keep the ten as hospital/quarantine tank.

Good luck.

yea i may do a ram community or a breeding pair of rams

Try to breed one species of fish before moving on without another. It's FAR more rewarding to see your pair of fish (Firemouths for example) trying to breed then to only have them to point of no return, yet you pull the plug and go to something else.

yeah guys they they only get 20" long!

more like 12, you must be thinking of another species.

Use the 10 as a fry tank.

Is the filter in the 10G a UGF? If not put some sand in, and the t-barbs and livebearers and upside down cat if you want. You could also grow fry out in it if you get any.
