New fish room, pictures as I go.

How low do should I drain the tank? I was going to drain it down to barley low enough for the fish to survive. But I was concerned about getting new water added back in at the right temp.I guess I can drain it really low, and fill it back up over time as my hot water heater fills back up.

If you are concerned you could drain the water into new trashcans or rubbermaid totes and toss a heater in it then once you are finished just add the water back to the tank.

Could always run to WalMart and pick up a couple of trash cans, then if you don't want to keep them you could return them. ;)

Great Idea. Thanks.

Looking good man. Just remember almost any project of this size has a few learning opportunities it sounds like you have gotten through the hard part.

Got the tank about 98% level, I had to stop shimming because the stand was starting to scare me. My question is I only had to shim one side, this leaves a small gap running from one side of the front to almost all the way to the other. Do I need to worry about this gap? My DIY vertical overflows are more than keeping up with the pump, and now that the tank is level the overflow is almost silent. I Will try and get some of the construction stuff moved so I can take pictures this weekend. Its been a long year but my bala's are finally some place they can call home.
