new FX5.. WOAH!

When I received mine in the mail I thought to myself...damn that's a big box for a filter.... I thought I paid more for the empty space inside until I opened the box and was looking for the empty space!

Its recommended to not use polishing pads or any fine particle filtration pads in the center baskets. Instead replaced the coarse sponges with 20ppi reticulated filter foam. You can get it from my Sig.

This will eliminate the micro bubble issue.

This also happens when you are using a high density bio media.
 
thanks for the imput! and great pic for the first guy XD. so far i have the bottom and the middle filled with biomax, and will have the top basket maybe for pre filter media i already ordered..even though its not the best, but ill see what it brings!

I ordered mine last Friday, should be here tomorrow or Thursday.
Then next week Im going to order another one. I have decided to buy one a month till I get enough to cover all my large tanks.. some will have two Fx5 on it.. Figured at that price, I could do one a month for a few months..
 
well i must say.. after finally getting the other biomax i needed for it, i can not BELIEVE how DEAD SILENT it is!!!!! i was like.. "dad!? is it on?!" amazing product fluval!..

First let me say, I am all for and routinely over filter. But at some point it is a game of diminishing returns and you are spending more on power and maintenance than it is worth.
