I never grew aro's to fully adult hood but I did own 2 silvers back then with a Jardini and grew the silvers up to 22-24" and the Jardini up to 19". The 22" silver's jaw broke due to a fight. I tried snapping it back aligned but was too scared to kill it. So I left it and it later got killed by a 30+" RTC.

Read my whole experience in the Catfish RTC/TSN info thread.

22-24" silver is close to adult, sorry to hear of the 22"er's ordeal.

Ya it was a sad lost but it was a lesson learned experience to remember never pair up a near 3' RTC with a 22" Aro. The RTC couldn't fully eat it but it tried to and had the Aro's head in it's mouth. I actually had to play tug a war with the RTC just to get the Aro out. It wasn't fun seeing him die like this but I think it was better to put the injured Aro out of it's misery then suffer cause he couldn't eat. This all happened back in 2001 in my 235g fiberglass glass front tank, right before I moved to a different city for work, sold all my tanks and fish as I got out of the hobby but now after 8 years later I got back into it. My ex gf even nick named the injured Aro Jean Chrétien the Canadian PM.

I have two silvers myself.. in a 150gallon...

Anyways.. it doesnt look like fin rot to me.. more like fin clip... U can tell that the two arowana dont get along... One of the silver's barbel is cliped.. Means theres attack between the two..

I think theres a possibility their both the same sex.... THIS IS ONLY MY THEORY... because i have two silvers.. and one is thicker body than the other... (Male arowana tends to be bigger because they are moth brewers) There are occasional attacks between the two.... but it wont get too aggressive...

But ya.. if u want to do two arowana.. best chances is to upgrade to a 180 -220 gallon tank..

actually, sense I put these guys in the 125 gallon as of 5 days ago. They havent even touched eachother. They are actually getting along great. I have sat infront of the tank watching them for hours and feeding them, even at feeding time they get along.

also, my "healthy guys" jaw has a over bite going on...His lower jaw goes past his upper by 1/4 inch...I thought this meant Female???

and another thing...the new guys barbels and fins were that way when I got him. When they fought in the 55 for the few days they were together in there, the only thing that happened was loss of scales.

sounds like protruding lower jaw..
