Nope. Other than stating the obvious. They've been in demand for at least three or four years...and all of a sudden someone remembers they have a pond full.

Bottom line is that they are in the hobby. Nice fish. Get them.

The story does seem odd to me too. Kind of interesting, unusual, and doesn't really appear likely. I'd love to know it was true, but who can know for sure? Does anyone have any more info?

i don't know if we're talking realistic here or just pipe dreaming, but i'd love to have a platinum grammodes or tiger motaguense.

Platinum grammodes? What is that?

I think these are the Rio Tepic beani that Rapps got in last year. From what I had heard, Blue Grass acquired the foreclosed/ abandoned property with the fish. If Jeff confirmed the story then no need to speculate. Noticed that he never listed them with an f# which leads me to believe that they were farm raised.
Makes sense.

If I remember correctly reading on mfk last year about this ,the fishfarm went under and no one was allowed legaly to step on the property to retrieve the fish.that is until someone purchased it.If someone does a site search you maybe able to find it.

bigriver, that would make the most sense. I highly doubt this is some kind of made up story. Regardless, they are Beani. That's all I care about.

This is from an email from Jeff about the Beani I'm purchasing....

Don't know for sure if F1 or F2 as breeders were placed in a pond. It's possible that first generation could have bred within the year to produce fish as well.

I agree, being able to obtain beani is what its all about - last Friday for me. The abandoned farm with highly sought-after fish is just interesting.

Well...keeping with the spirit of the season...so does the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow...but that's not likely either. :)

The story is big on mystery and short on facts. I could be wrong. This is just my opinion. I never heard that story.

Regardless, they're in the hobby now. I'll see if Jeff can fill in any blanks.
