Hi Wilson, i just wanted to say welcome and i wanted to put it my two cents! lol

I have 3 red bellys in a 55gallon, and yes they bite at each other often, but like someone else menitoned, they heal fast!! as long as you give them plenty of places to hide and claim as their own area they will be fine. I have not gotten bored with mine, i check up on them everyday to see how they have grown, i am very attached to them. i enjoy adding to their environment to make it look nice. I am trying to make mine look like a mini amazon river, im almost there, i added river rocks to mine with some plastic plants and a big rock. and yes it is true that they dont often do much, they hide in the corners or in the caves. they swim pretty still and startle easily, but guess what, thats what makes them piranhas. One has to respect their personality, they are fish, not entertainers.

I enjoy viewing my fish, they relax me and i truly believe that the nicer the environment the more you and the fish will enjoy.

3 red bellys
Scarface, Fatso, and KingPin!!

Hey Nancy, thank you for your welcome... I finally bought my RBP's only yesterday, they are baby's approx an inch long... I've got 7 for now, and if most of them last I will have to transfer some to my mates tank, I'm just feeding them blood worm for now. My tank has rock features, I have the 3d rock background, with a few rocks in the tank, and 1 big fabric plant and 2 small ones.. I need one or two large rocks to finish it of I think... I've been pretty fascinated by them so far....

I will try and get some pics up here in next few days !

Thanks
Marc

Sounds like a nice tank. Can I ask what you decided to do with the lighting?

I haven't yet..... I've got the lights that are with the tank for now, I dont know what they are but they make the p's look kind off blue!!! I only have them on for a few hours a day for now...

I'll look into lights in a few weeks when I have more money, struggling for now after xmas!!!!!!

You can keep standard lighting by adding plants that have floating foliage, it will provide shading and places for the rpbs to lurk.

I had a tank once where I stretched a normal, black plastic bag accross the stock florescent light strip. It gave the tank a darker, sorta twilight type of look to it. Not the red color that you were after, but it might look cool with the p's. I had it on a smaller, amazon community tank with some of those fake fabric plants and thought it looked pretty cool.

Just a cheap and easy idea that might work.
