That depends on a few things. If you keep him alone for a long time, he may grow to be intolerant of any tankmates. You also will need a large tank to keep him with anything near his size as an adult. Finally, it comes down to individual temperment. He may grow to be accepting of tankmates or he may attack anything, no matter the size of the tank. It's all trial and error with aggressive cichlids. When you decide to try adding tankmates have a second tank handy in case it doesn't work the first time. I also find it easier to add new fish shortly after a deep water change. My stock is usually a bit more accepting then.

His color will most likely go through some changes as it matures. It may be a dramatic change or it could be subtle. I've seen solid orange Midas turn nearly all white. I wish you the best!

yeah hes always had more of a RD look

he was in the tank marked midas at petsmart but who knows with them lol

color hasnt changed from orange and is just getting more intense

he sure has grown since the first photos and DAMN... hes looking good lol
eats like a pig and he doesnt bother anyone.... YET

thanks guys... like you and everyone else here I take my fishkeeping seriously

although I have been keeping fish for around 40 years now... got my first tank at 5 (my dad was always a fishkeeper)

Im fairly new to the large new worlds... Ive had a few in the past that were real glass bangers but my goal is bringing them all together soon in the 240

just wish my photo skills did them justice
