That depends on a few things. If you keep him alone for a long time, he may grow to be intolerant of any tankmates. You also will need a large tank to keep him with anything near his size as an adult. Finally, it comes down to individual temperment. He may grow to be accepting of tankmates or he may attack anything, no matter the size of the tank. It's all trial and error with aggressive cichlids. When you decide to try adding tankmates have a second tank handy in case it doesn't work the first time. I also find it easier to add new fish shortly after a deep water change.
