Hey guys yet another thread about stingrays not eating...

Background is that I had a 5" female retic in my 125 for a couple months on strickly frozen bloodworms, very active and healthy.

Fast forward to four days ago when I picked up two male motoro rays from a fellow MFK member. I tried frozen bloodworms, frozen krill, freeze dried krill and nothing. They are very active, swimming up the sides of the glass but are still not eating and I am getting concerned.

Also, my female retic keeps chasing the male motoros around the tank, I don't think she is biting their disks but the motoros are always running away from her. Is this something I should worry about? I think she is being territorial since she was in the tank first.

Any imput would be appreciated!

......... use cut up nightrawlers! No1 ever tries this it seems until they are told to on here and nightcrawlers are practically one of the best food for rays....bloodworms arent very nutritional at all... get them on nightcrawlers and TILAPIA.

Ask the previous owner what they used and copy that. Give them time and check all water parameters.

he said they were on live blackworms but I can not find them around me. water parameters are good. Hoping they eat soon!

Order them from Aquatic foods- look up "california blackworms" They will deliver right to your door. I ordered yesterday and had 5 pounds fed ex to my front door less than 24 hours later.

go to a fishing or outdoors store and grab a pack of worms. cut them up into small bite size pieces for them and you should be fine. You could also try some shrimp you find at the grocery store, that works for me, for some reason my rays wont eat any talapia. If that doesnt work, id say try prazi pro'ing the tank, perhaps you motoros you picked somehow had some internal parasites? dont know what to tell you about the bully retic tho.

aquabid.com has cali blackworms they sell by the lb. if you get nightcrawlers from the store make shure they are not scented or anything. your best bet would be shrimp from the market just thaw some and sut into bite size chunks they should eat that with no problem.

IF the motos are being chased divide them. My rays deffinetly heckle newcommers. Some rays won't eat while being heckled, chased, smothered, whatever the case. They also need time to adjust. I wouldn't worry till they've refused food for a couple days if they were allready established and eating well in another member's tank.
