new motoros not eating & retic chasing them.

hate to start a debate, also this may be my personal preference or experience, i try not to feed ghost shrimp or blood worms until its the last resort, both i find have no nutritional value and once they do start eating them it tends to be a little tricky to get them to eat anything, ghost shrimps especially i find.

Hey, go to walmart.. In the fishing section, there will be a glass case cooler there with night crawlers in it. Thats were I get mine when I start running low in my worm ben. Walmart will have them. Or if there is a lake close to you, go to any of the stations that have bait at them and get them there. But I bet your walmart will have them.
For the future.. start a worm farm.. Look up online how to make one or personal message me and Ill let you know how. Its easy.. that way, in time you will be able to save money on worms.
Hope that helps

thank you everybody I really appreciate it. I am considering putting a divider in my 125 and keeping my retic to herself for a few days to keep my new motoros stress to a minimum. I never thought that they may not be eating due to stress.

I also did not know that bloodworms were low in nutritional value. I have fed my retic shrimp cocktail cut up small in the past and she loved it I will try this with the motoros. I just need to find a divider ASAP

Thanks again!

go to a good harware store.. you can pick up either a piece of plexy glass or (not sure what its really called) but its used in fluoresent lighting.. Ill add a picture of the fluoresent lighting stuff that I use that works great. But if you use plexy glass, just cut the piece to size and drill alot of holes in it for water flow.. this works also but I like the fluoresent lighting stuff better. its nice and strong and already gives great water flow but still divides the tank...I also use for some of my tank toppers.. But I orig got it for a divider for my tanks.. It comes in large pieces that are easy to cut to any size to work as a divider

sure man, no problem. while you also at walmart, do to the hardware section.. there will be a package of clear suction cups.. its either 2 in a package or 4 in a package.. but you will need 8. when you get the divider, either plexy glass or the stuff I sent you a picture of, put 2 suction cups on the back glass of the tank and two on the front, then put your divider up against those, then add the rest of the suction cups to the other side of the divider.. that will help hold the divider in place.. (if any of that made any since)
good luck..

Lowes has that divider(egg Crate) Its in the isle that the drop ceiling tiles are in. they are called drop ceiling louvered light diffusers. dont ask for egg crate as they will look at u dumb! hahaha

thanks, I couldnt remember what it was called. I know egg creat wasnt rt, so I didnt want to tell him that. To me, that stuff works great for a divider..

picked up some worms from Wal-Mart and the rays went right for them but as soon as the start moving around they spit them out. My retic is a monster though and ripped them up and ate em all. I'm gonna go to Lowes now and get a homemade divider and try later

I've even started wild rays on tiny baby Crawfish that breed in one of my tanks.

You can clip off the "thumbs" of their front claws if they worry you (I don't bother anymore, but at one time I did).
