Instead of stone or gravel best to place them over sand to prevent them from accidentally swallow a gravel. Especially crushed one as it will be sharp and can cause internal scratches and cause infections. I lost too many bichir from accidentally swallowing gravel. If you want gravel you can try the fine grain size ones so it will get easily pass the anus if get swallowed.

Yah, sorry I should have said. I have a pretty decent collection of Polys in large tanks with crushed garnet stone. This is as fine as sand. I mix it 3:1 with black sand. It's the stuff recommended for Bichirs here in Japan.

wow, very good looking specimens for sure! i think they look great even when they're juveniles. and of course when they're huge. keep us updated on them!
