New poly has spots! Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
0 nitrates would indicate your filters arent cycled. What type of filter ? Whats in it media wise ?
Well then... idk what I'm doing wrong there. Maybe the algone I put in my filter to deal with the no2 and no3 spike (due to me over feeding). My tanks been up for 3 months I'd say. Used quick start for start up. Stress coat and stress zyme for water changes. I used all those marine pure balls to try n have lots of good bacteria. Have a filter rated for 30 to 70 gals.

See if you can net it and put it against the glass. Worse side toward the camera.

He just won't stay still! I took a bunch of pics but they are all blurry.
Sorry that your poly is so squirmy. I had to catch my parrots in a net and then put in a ziploc bag(temporarily) in order to get a pic of them. Might help?

if none of the pics come out, then maybe a video?

Do you have ny media in the filter to house the bacteria ?

OMG! its a fish tank not a chemistry set. Half of that stuff is garbage. All those additives can actually hinder the "natural order" in your tank. Use those sparingly when there is an issue. Did the tank ever fully cycle? as someone else pointed out and I'm sorry I forgot who at this point. 0 nitrate is every bodys dream but typically means something isn't right. Ammo lock binds ammonia and its not properly processed in the nitrogen cycle which is the first step in the nitrogen cycle ammonia gets converted into nitrite then to nitrate which then needs to be removed via water change, plants, or a denitrating filter of some sort. Its usually not zero. Yes I know they say they're safe I'm just saying most people that have been in this a bit will tell you they've tried it and some it works out for some it doesn't, I'm saying it all (well most) has its place. As for the "spots" looks like ich to me, could just be the polys natural slime coat acting up to some of the stuff you are using. Sorry for the long possibly not needed post but all those chemical set me off we have no idea anything about you or your tank but when I see that, ive got to assume the worst.... that one of the bigboxs or possibly a snakeoil sales lfs has you right where they want you. Maybe you've done some research and in the past have decided to buy those and try it out for a particular reason one by one, I don't know and we are here to help not discourage. Lets see if we can. Id say if you are using any of the stress coat products you stop now, especially since it seems we are dealing with that part of the body in particular.

I should have thought of that haha

Here's what's in my filters. I thought the white bag helped hold good bacteria. Maybe I'm missing something there. And all those marine pure balls to house bacteria.... And twenty leagues, yeah everyone in person said I've got a Lotta stuff, I just wanted to be prepared. I haven't used ammolock or pH down yet. Just the Quickstep n stress n enzyme coat. And I've had readings on my no2 and no3 so they were there, it's not like I have had 0 the whole time. I thought I did something right since all 3 tanks were reading almost 0 now but idk what I could have done wrong to mess up the bacteria. That enzyme coat has bactetia so idk how they would die. My brother thought it looked like ich as well. I was hoping fungus cause that doesn't seem as scary. I don't wanna lose him!

Alrighty I'm gonna set up this little fishbowl to hold him for a bit while I do a good tank cleaning. Hopefully I can get a good pic, if not he goes in a ziplock. Should I use any of these chems or just distilled water? Gonna turn on this heater with cover and his airstone. Sorry to be so needy! I tend to overthink everything like this and **** it all up
