New poly tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice. But i think your gonna need more bio than the few pot scrubbies. I would get a laundry bag and fill it with any bio media you have and probably some new as well considering how many poly you have and at there adults sizes.

You could also put a tee on the drain pipe and add another filter sock to help with mech and would extend intervals between have to change the lone sock.

I'll post a pic of my sump its simple nothing fancy but gets the job done

Yeah seconding the tee to split the load on the sock, depending on what micron you're using changing a single sock could be a really tedious task. In my sump my media chamber has 3 big bags of media (from my original setup that I used to seed) in front of the opening from the first baffle, and I've been gradually filling the remainder of the chamber with pond matrix because why not :P

Another thing with the socks... i have the same size socks on my 75 gal and i hate them. Ordered 16 inch long socks from mcmaster-carr and they last a hell of allot longer. I only use the small ones when im too lazy to clean the dirty socks.

Both are very basic sumps didnt go with baffles because i really had no resson for using them dont plan on a refugium or setlling chamber. The foam pads dont serve much of a purpose but i had them laying so figure why not use em. You can make a sock hold out of egg crate. The pre fabed ones are easier to remove the socks though

You can put the heater in the tank but most will do the sump because it has a cleaner look to the tank that way.

One question, do you really need a heater in the sumps??

If it doesnt fit in the sump i would put it mear the return or drain in the main tank
