New Project, need all the help i can get

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
honestly, i've been getting that a lot, i have decided that im going to make the top half an amphibian haven, BUT i would still like to have some kind of "star" of the tank, maybe some kind of larger amphibian? definitely an area im not very familiar with.

im also going to look into installing more shelves with some shallow pools and divert some of the water feature water to make them a renewing pond,

A group of Tomato Frogs. Nothing beats them in awesomeness for what you want.

OK here is what i have so far, gathered from some other forums and help abroad. So far im going to be building a freshwater tank with spotted scats and archerfish (i will be careful to seek out freshwater versions of the archerfish only) from everything i have read both these species should be completely uninterested in fire bellied toads, which stay low lying in the tank around the surface and swim in the water ocationaly but also wont disturb the fish. Also their toxicity is minor and the filter should be able to clean out the water more than enough.

Day gecko looks pretty cool, slightly woried he might chomp a frog when given the chance though, will do some more research

just a thought whatever you build the tank out of you can always get some vents that are made for house's mostly in white, there about 4-5" round and have small slots in them like a vent for a heater ventilation system in house's.... put em on the back or side were you would see them that will allow any "gas" exchanges and will aloow any humidity to escape during shedding time and also stop any wood or plexi glass from wrapped or getting ruined... looks like you can get em from like 2" right up to 6" round and only a couple bucks each

Ok. After about 10 to12 hours of research its clear that I have a lot to learn. As such I am putting this project on the back burner. I'm looking into acquiring a handful of different pets in separate enclosures and am going to brush up on my skills across the animal kingdom

i am going to a couple of stores today and im hoping to get a better cross section of what wildlife i can have existing in harmony.

Nothing, pick one and stick with it.

Dart frogs can enjoyable and easy to keep as well. but again, pick one sub-species and stick with it.

Been there done this. Mixing and matching critters only leads to dead critters in a few months.

Please do a little research on the fish, too. Scats are not fully freshwater, except for one, and that is not the Spotted Scat.
