I think I am just going to start out with carbon in both chambers until it clears the tank up. Hopefully it will do the job pretty quickly. Once the carbon dies I'll start worrying about what to put in it for the next time. I'm just trying to decide what pump to go with, I'm leaning towards a ViaAqua 1300. I've always had pretty good luck with ViaAqua pumps.
Try atleast half matrix carbon. The stuff rules trust me :). I have had good luck with via aqua in the past with the exception of a second hand one but god only knows what the guy had done with it :irked:

What about the other half?

Two liters of Purigen is $80, not going to happen right now. :(

I feel ya , I just bought some yesterday (Noone responded to my thread about it hint hint) It has actually absorbed quite a bit and my water looks like its slowly getting clearer. Its running on my 90 gallon in a 100 gph HOB with a prefilter I wanted it to have some good dwell time and my water has already started to turn the purigen a little bit tinged.

Fine, once again this site has cost me money. I hope it makes you happy. I am going to order the Monster reactor, a viaaqua 1300, two liters of matrix carbon and two liters of purigen. I know it won't completely fill the reactor but I think it should be enough to clear up my 300. At least I hope it will be.

This unit is rated for a 1200 tank. The charcoal or what ever you use should last a long time. I'm running it on a 300 gallon tank so im hoping to get a long run time inbetween media changes. So far so good.

I will be using it on a 300 as well so I am hoping that the media lasts a very long time. Unfortunately the 2 liters in each chamber won't come close to filling it up though. I think it will be alright though. What do you think?

Also, I really hope my tank ends up being even close to as clear as yours. You have a beautiful tank.

That much purigen is pointless. 2 liters should be ALL you need. The good thing is purigen just keeps on going like energizer bunny, charge after charge. :)

Great, I'm only planning on using two liters of purigen and two liters of matrix carbon so I should be in good shape.
