Purigen only come in bags that hold 100ml and bags don't play well in media reactors. They are designed to fluidize media that is not in bags. Therefore the bag would be 100% pointless. It is great in canisters, but that's about it.

Sorry but that is not true. I bought the Purigen in 1 litre bottles and it did not include any bags. I purchased 4"x12" media bags to put the purigen in. I put approximately 1/2 liter of purigen in each media bag before putting it into the reactor.

As for being pointless, you can tell that to people that haven't tried it but you aren't going to convince me of it. I've seen the results first hand and I'm a believer.

Nomicon, is your AquaClear 800 silent? I went with a ViaAqua 1300 pump and it is much louder than I expected. I have always had luck with their pumps in the past but this one isn't cutting it.

Yeah, doesnt make any noise at all. I also added the filter atachment that you can get for the aqua clear power heads. Nice addition and it doesnt clog. Let me know what you think and uhhhh, gotta have more pics dude.

What would you like to see more pictures of? I'm here to please. :)

I went with a Quiet one pump, hopefully it will live up to it's name. :)

I said that the only size that came with bags was the 100ml. It also comes in containers of 250ml, 1 liter, and 2 liters. And as for the bags being pointless, it generally is unless you need to separate multiple medias in one chamber but that is better done with extra sponges. And how are there "results" from using a media bag? It is channeling water and restricting flow. There is no way all the water flowing through that reactor is going through a media bag. It isn't possible the way the chamber is made with a pipe in the middle.

Have you never read "holds xx Ounces of loose media" in a reactors description? Have you ever wondered why they have screens or sponges to keep the media in the chamber? Or why they are upflow and fluidize the media rather than just throwing it in a high flow area? The whole idea of a media reactor is to ensure that all the water flowing through it is distributed evenly throughout the media, hence the fluidization and cylindrical design.

Some cheaper or DIY media reactors may need media bags, but these do not (neither do Magnavores, Phosban, or many others).

Snap one more pic of the tank now thats its been a few more days. Has it cleared completely??

I will get a picture once it is dark. I honestly believe it is the clearest tank I have ever had. Only problem is that I am starting to get a little algae (normal but would still prefer not to have it). I ordered a cheap two little fishies phosphate reactor that I am going to run to help out a little as well. It only cost $60 for the reactor and media so it is definitely worth trying out. If it doesn't work I plan on putting it on my 210 with some Purigen in it.

Here is an update. What ya think?

The mirrors for my 300 where shipped out today. Cant wait to get those on the back and kinda call it done. Although I cant seem to ever call it done. I'll snap some pics when those get on. Keep up the nice tank man.
