Rescued this one from a marine biologist of all people. He's the original owner and has had it for around 10 years+. It has been in a 55gallon for the last couple years (used to be in a smaller tank) and has been fed nothing but grapes (yes grapes) for the last year or two. He's easily 17-18"TL. I hope I can heal up the HITH and whatever else might be wrong with him.

Any suggestions on what a good diet would be to get him on would be? Right now he resides in a 130gallon 72"x18"24" where he can actually turn around! I'm not sure what kind of giant gourami he is. He looks like what I've seen called "red tail giant gourami" but he has no red. Right now I've got a 6" regular pink one that I've been growing out but couldn't see this one go to some random kid on craigslist just for the free tank. Heres his future tankmate.

Ok feed him whatever you have just lying around they'll eat just about anything. Plus a good healthy selection of Veggies. I use to feed my 4 everything from Nightcrawlers, to freezed dried and or live Superworms, Hissing Cockaroaches, commerical Shrimp, Lobster, Freshwater Lobster/Crawfish, Spearing, high end and low end fish foods, Turtle foods. Mine are RTGG's and they love Bazil, Lettuce, some Spinach, less Kale, Parsely, there not fans of grapes, breakfast saugages or cheez whiz like those fish that are kept over in England - (Yanbbrox, knows what I mean);).

Mine have lately become psycho killers, so I feed them very little these days. As I comtemplate there fate! :irked:, thinking of finding out how edible they may be. Good Luck with yours. It's a male, just in case your interested.

They're still amongst the living, just not feeding them as heavly anymore. Still haven't decided what to do with them yet, it would be easier if they had arms to hang them up by. So I could beat them with wet noodles till they screamed for mercy.:screwy:

Just know that I haven't ruled out the dinner, thought yet.

he's doing fine. He eats anything that hits the water now. I just give him a few big pieces of romaine, some other veggies, and large omega one pellets every day.
