Haha, so far, two "its very ghetto"s. Not one, "its nice". To be honest i was worried about a regular fish net cover not being strong enough to withstand the blow from a jumping shark. I had visions of the shark actually getting the whole net to collapse and then ensnaring all of the fish in the pond, resulting in death. So i went with some sturdy plastic construction material haha. Anyway.
Why dont nitrates matter in this sort of set up? Do you think there would be an occasional ammonia/nitrite spike after the initial cycle, not including addition of new fish and other normal causes? Should i get a diatom filter? Any other filtration suggestions?
