New Shark Pool

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haha, so far, two "its very ghetto"s. Not one, "its nice". To be honest i was worried about a regular fish net cover not being strong enough to withstand the blow from a jumping shark. I had visions of the shark actually getting the whole net to collapse and then ensnaring all of the fish in the pond, resulting in death. So i went with some sturdy plastic construction material haha. Anyway.

Why dont nitrates matter in this sort of set up? Do you think there would be an occasional ammonia/nitrite spike after the initial cycle, not including addition of new fish and other normal causes? Should i get a diatom filter? Any other filtration suggestions?

Agreed - the setup is ghetto, but functional. And I've always been a fan of function over form. I can't wait - shipping company arranged for friday delivery of my tank.

Its sorta gheto but on somthing this big you dont really have to many choices so i think you take it as is

jabba i hope your posting pics! Tomorrows your big day! Just dont make my poor little pool look too ghetto. Tone it down some. HAHA

Bah - they called today to say they won't be able to deliver til monday now. It's just a few miles away, but they don't have the smaller truck they need to get up my driveway. F$ck#rs.

Now thats ***.

thats a bummer. You'll have it soon, dont worry about it.

Believe it or not, the pool is almost cycled. Just beginning to see nitrate on the test. Ammonia 1-2, nitrite 1-2, Nitrate 0. I added three jacks last week, and took out the groupers. The faster fish werent lettiing any food sit for the groupers to come out of hiding and eat. So i intervened. Surprisingly nothing has died with these high toxicity levels. They all seem to be healthy and swimming like mad.
