New snakehead set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Earthworm from your garden or fishing tackle shop would go down well too. Damp dark night bring the large lob worms out from their burrows in your grass.

have ocelated in my community tank. go for golden cobra after setting up the new tank. Definitely one of the most beautiful sneak head type.

Why does everyone seem to think that snakeheads dont get along with both other snakeheads and other fish. It depends on the individual fish.

Because they don't.
Their behavior makes so that either they try to kill everything, or hide and let themselves die. And that goes for every single species of sub-tropical channa out there.

Only few exceptions where I can agree with you are Maruloides and pleurophthalmas that tend to do OK even if their true behavior disappears when you comm them. And they're both tropicals.

That and the fact sub-tropicals have special needs that very little fish to comm with can handle, and if they don't get it, they die.

I keep a pulchra with polys , catfish, uaru and an aro and have never had any problems . So say what you will, ill hold by what ive experienced. Personality does matter. Most of the time.

This is an argument that has been had back and worth over all many of species, I personally have a pleuro in my comm tank with my fahaka and CA cichlids.... however I accept that this is the exception rather than the rule and great care needs to be take if it's tried.

And I kept a great many deal of sneakheads, all of which have shown the exact same pattern, except for pleuros and maruloides. Channas either kill or let themselves die. They are exceptions, but it remains the rule. Fact of the matter is, your pulchra is not showing his natural behavior, and with an arowana? It's not going to last very long i'm afraid.

Pleuros are one of the two most tolerant species. :)
Again, they are tropical, so that alone helps as they have the same needs.
