New Tank and Sump Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks good, I am looking forward to see how it works out for you. was thinking about doing something similar with my fx5

Ok better pic: horray!!

And i started putting water in it... and you'd never guess it, it leaks  , not much , over 4hn with about 40L in there (so about 1.5" of water) the bottom of the tank connectors were soggy, back to B&Q to complain their tank connectors leak so they gave me this sealer for free, i think its just silicone but apparently it never sets hard, it stays gel like (just like silicone does) so its easy to remove when you need to:

will try again 2moz after a second layer and once its cured

Also is that sealant stuff fish safe? Just a thought as you dont wana wake up to a dead tank do you ;)

Thanks, stocking with yellow labs and demasoni malawi cichlids, hope they breeeeeed, got lava rock and coral sand for it, will look sweet

Well the tube says "Completely safe to use with drinking water" so.. im assuming yes its ok, its basically just silicone, i cant see why it will harm the fish

Err i dont think i have enough rock LOL old tank was obs ALOT smaller it seems

Got mum to do a leak check becuase shes against the whole idea so if there was even a damp patch she'd make me re-seal it... she also level checked it all!!! (glad it was all straight or shed make me take it down and fix it)

SO here i am now time for some AQUASCAPING

Got the tank full... the stand holds, the leaks are fixed and the overflow WORKS!!!

But it is a tad noisy, iv stuck air line tube down it, has helped a bit, will try a durso tomorrow

Can't aquascape just yet... tried and my arm FROZE got 2 heaters in there now so will try again later

Ok spent Mad day spring cleaning... just need to put half that back board back on to hide the open ugly bits and re mount my speakers then i am SORTED (for now light diy mod will happen this week)

Looking good, its a great way to use an fx5 BTW I think a nice peice of bogwood in the middle and your rocks creating small caves at either side would look really cool, a bit of greenery too would also set it right off ;) nice job m8

deffo agree with the rocks, need to buy some more thats all i had from old set up :(, but since its a malawi set up, no bogwood as it leaches acid and no plants because they dont do so well with a pH of 8.2, great idea tho if it was FW i wouldnt have it any other way
