New tank catastrophe :(

The Dragon spreads its wings and soars again...

Been working my booty off last days to get the tank leveled, and then filters, bio-media and finally Blue Base transferred over to the new tank (LFS guy came over to help with moving the Aro (I don't want her to associate me with that negative process; I stay out of the room lol), and said it was free, no charge but I gave him a tip just as I did when they delivered the new replacement tank & stand.

Before all that though I finally ended up draining the tank and attempting one more re-level just to be on the safe side. And before I got into the comlexity of shimming the tank, I wanted to try one more (simplistic) approach: I was curious to see if by either moving the tank backward or forward, we could luck out and find a set of tiles that worked out nicely. And after about an hour of gentle moving and testing, that's pretty much what happened when we scooted the tank forward about 2 feet. Still not 100% perfect but it's good enough for me without going in with shims and possibly making it worse.

So between the two X's there's 2mm difference -- I'm ok/happy with that but it's in Fate's hands now.

Thunder is clearly happy too -- as mentioned in a previous post she stopped eating pellets when she went back to the 88g. But the day before transferring her over she saw me working on her tank and that night finally ate 3 pellets along with her shrimp. She's had 2 meals since going to the new tank and both times she ate about 12 pellets lol -- it's like she said, "Screw this 'Tiny House' stuff, I'm going on a pellet strike until that skinny mofo gets me a new Purple Palace!" Kids today lol, they're so self-entitled :/

<---suffering immense fish envy! Nice to see the tank full and lovely.

Like RD, I thought you were buying a framed tank, but yours is indeed a frameless with trim.

Full bottom contact is often required with that type, depending on the bottom thickness. A thick enough bottom only needs edge contact.

Also, your stand is absolutely limber compared to the stiffness of the tank, so the tank will just deform the stand to the shape of the floor, and the tank cannot be shimmed. Without multiple leveling feet this would be a problem alright.

I would check for differential floor settlement after a while. I moved 6 aquariums and 3 sumps plus cabinets along one wall of one room and had to re-shim the stands after a week. I have a 35 year old concrete floor slab on earth, and my house settled a bit there once I filled everything.

Total of all mine was under 200 gals, so far less weight.

The fish is looking great and I am sure you're glad the tank hassle is over. The leveling looks good enough too.

My dog stops eating if she doesn't like the food. If she doesn't like the house, then tough luck :grinyes:
