rinsing my filter with cold tap water wont kill the BB on it? I thought that the chlorine would kill the bacteria on the filter.
Do not rinse with tap water. If you need to rinse the media use a bucket of aquarium water
You can rinse the media in tank water but tap water will probably kill a lot of the bacteria.ok good, so I was right about that. So then we all agree to still do 5g water changes every few days? as long as the ammonia lvls are.5ppm or greater?
Might go more than 5 gals, especially if ammonia is near 1. You may notice nitrites increasing as well.
Ok, its been six days since the last water change....The ammonia lvl is between .5-1ppm.....the nitrite lvl is still zero...hmmm....whats goin on here? I reallly wanna do a water change but I dont wanna mess up the cycle again. Im confused.

Also, some water conditioners can throw off the readings of the Amonia levels, you should wait a few days after adding it before measuring.

its the aquean quiet flow. either the 20 or 30, uses the lg filter pad. So I should buy that bottle bateria stuff?
