New tank & cycling parameters

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry! One of the pH tests wrong; reading 6.7 with master & 7.6 with individual kit. Will repeat later as
ammonia was still at least .50 ppm
Nitrite: 0 still got to check nitrate.
BTW tlindsey, thanks for the answers, feedback, & likes. I am still adding Prime 1 cap for ammonia, etc. Doesn't look look is I'll be adding to the Fishy family this week. Should I just continue testing? I've been doing it everyday because I assumed things are always changing in the cycle (until they're not lol).
Sat here all day doing stuff for them, kitties, & doggies! Is & our companions, huh? Gonna go eat & recheck later.

Only saying that master kit (I already have) says pH is 6.7, & the pH only tst kit (separate) says it's 7.6.
I'm very interested in the Home depot rack for tank stand. How exactly would I look it up? I'm already getting plastic roof panel for making interim (or permanent) tank tops.right now. Just getting what I can afford, so for real thanks for any help on that HE rack!

Muscle rack makes garage rack, find one with same base dimensions as you tank base. This one has one muscle rack split in to 2. Costs about 40-50.

Hate this autofill: home depot!
Hey "tl" I think I found a video on someone talking about the "4 for 1" :home depot stand. Thanks for the heads up; I've got a neighbour that does a lot of DIY, so I might can get him to cut out it up for me. The YT video shows single room setup with 4 of the 40G breeders that looks very good & is all on one wall.
Thanks so much for that heads up.

Thanks for the visual! Hope to learn more DIY stuff from everyone (even Joey mullen) just did a post to an old note about him. Know he's capable DIY person & I hope to be more knowledgeable with time.
y'all are really helping me with everything & I truly appreciate it. You folks are awesome!??? Tank is still cycling. Hope to get a couple of tanks over the weekend.
Petco has 40B's for 50% off as well as 10, 20, 29 for $1/gallon. Hope y'all are well/safe.Blessings from the Fishy Five/Goldfish Posse!
??

Hope you're all doing well this fine day! Love, respect, & admiration from all entities here in small-town Alabama! Tank still cycling & repeating all parameters daily.
Last showed decrease ammonia 0.25 ppm, pH 6.8, nitrite 0, nitrate 40 ppm (Still reddish, not orange). I got ceramic rings & mesh bags came today. Should I put some in bag to put directly in tank?
Am also collecting necessary items for a 2nd tank & hope to get all by Sunday. Hello & great colourful awesomeness from the Goldfish Posse: the Fishy Five! They look amazingly vibrant today & are really growing. My dogs are reacting to them now as well!
I'm really in fish heaven & enjoying this so much. Thanks to my amazing fish & my great new friends as well. Everyone have a good weekend.??

I know that they're usually used that way, but also see those who use it for extra bio media (like to put in a new tank). No one has spoken to their use in anything but a canister filter. I have a 30/60 Aqua Tech filter HOB; will these even fit into it? (Have 55G Aqua Culture tank & good filter came with in kit.)
I'll have to take a pic of it tomorrow as well as my amazing goldfish: the Fishy Five! Thanks to eveyone. Be safe distancing & be well.

Hey y'all! What about the rings & shouldn't I put it in bag in tank? Or should it only be out into filter. Last tank check still showing ammonia & Nitrate still pinkish. Using Prime, but think the Fishy Five have a "Prime" habit! (Just kidding) Did better with last water change. (More comfortable with Python)
Goldfish Posse is getting big, I couldn't be happier.
Keep safe; gonna tank shop. You should too!

If you are trying to seed it and it won't fit in your filter yes place in a bag and place into the aquarium or wait until you get the other filter..

I'll have to see if it will fit. Do I just put it in the area of filter where the cartridge is? I know nothing about them. I think I actually understand the canister better with the triple layer thing! I just know the cartridge looks like carbon & you buy replacements.
I am amazed at the growth of the Goldfish Posse/AKA the Fishy Five. In 2 weeks they've all grown, even the smallest who was about 3/8--1/2" long. The 2 largest were about 1" , & now almost 2" ! I guess that's why I don't believe in having "feeder fish". They're out of a community tank of probably 150--200 fish to a 55 G. From probably flake food to bloodworms & tiny bits of fresh vegies. Also, no individualized care & being called "food" to having a name & someone to care for their needs.
That just shows what happens when you do the right thing. They're already exhibiting their own traits & personalities, as well as reacting to me & their doggie brother and sister. Two of them came to top & nipped my finger when I gave them teeny-tiny bits of squash. Living entities of any kind are so amazing!
I know: I'm such a hippy & proud of it. Rambling now. . .Thanks to everyone. Especially you tlindsey we all appreciate it.

I personally don't use charcoal carbon but it's a personal choice. My reason for not using it is that if my aquarium is off by the slightest off smell I want to know .. I will only use carbon when removing meds but haven't done so in years.
Yes see if bio will fit after removing the carbon.

See I would be trying to fit rings in there with the cartridge still in there. So turn it off, remove catridge, & then try the rings. If they fit in there, how do I know I have enough in the filter? And won't that make the whole thing like rattle or something? tlindsey, I'm gonna have to start posting pics! Lol
Thanks again for all the help; may seem easy to you, but I'm often lost, as you can see.
Going to go find my Dad a Roku tv. He's 86 & really bored right now. Gotta take care of him too, & glad of it!
PeaceLoveFish?✌
