new tank mate for my flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
His growth doesn't always depend on feeding. It can depend on water changes, food, tank size, etc. If he is in a smaller tank with not many water changes he may not grow as fast. He also is getting bigger, then tend to grow faster when they are small. When the fish gets older it doesn't grow as rapidly.

Feeding him 30-40 of the 2mm pellets should be okay for him.

and tank size isn't the issue, its one flowerhorn in a 110 gallon tank. i have 2 filters, and i do water changes every 1.5-2 weeks. food i only feed him one kind and one kind only. should i mix it up?

although i haven't cleaned out the filters since i got them lol. and there is a considerable amount of algae growth in the tank...

30-40 a day, not twice a day. So if you do two feedings a day then 15-20 per feeding. What brand of food are you feeding? Some food is not the best. I try to do natural foods, or hikari. I also give my guy some freeze dried brine shrimp about 3 times a week. It is really high in protein which will help them grow.

uh. its hikari cichlid only that brand. its the small or medium kind im not sure but its pretty small. I used to feed him 20 pellets x2 a day. Also i was feeding him freeze dried blood worms but someone told me those give them liver problems or something later if u overfeed or something so i stopped. and i think the flowrehorn is 5.5-6 inches at least thats what it said when i bought him online.

That doesn't apply to all Flowerhorn so just try all kind of food and see which your flowerhorn like best.

Overfeeding is much worse then underfeeding.

if the hump stays big and the flowerhorn is bright red that means the water conditions are good right? i rarely check the water conditions i just look at how he looks lol.
