New to MFS!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haha I have been nipped by 12" oscars and man does it hurt! But yesterday I was at one of my local fish stores and they just got in a few 8-10in Arowannas and I placed my hand too close to the waters surface and one got both my index and middle finger, and it didn't feel pleasant! I really wanted the fish after that haha, just because of how aggressive it was.

Seems like you want fish for all the right reasons ;) I love Aro's, I wish that I had a big enough tank for one!

I love them too! It's just so hard to find ones that are not skiddish. And of course if I were to get one, I would have to upgrade to a larger tank after a while:)

Naw, the floating fake plants made it feel a little crowded to me. The arow would only 4' of the tank, then turn around. I kinda needed to give him more room to swim. Sooo....I got rid of the plants. And then he had the whole 6' to swim.

I was hoping to get rid of this stupid HOB filter. I hate it. No matter what I do, it won't stop pushing these hideous, tiny little bubbles into my water. It drives me NUTS. :wall:

Those are air bubbles....you need movement in your water for oxygen... unless you get a water pump... but that filter is doing the job of an air pump too... :) more the surface moves, more the oxygen for your fish.

And regarding this topic. Do you want ONE single beast? If you love MAGESTIC aggressive fish...and I mean an aggressive fish that when people look at, will stop them in their tracks.. get a HIGH quality flowerhorn.

People have many different views on this fish, most common..since it is a hybrid. However, in MY opinion...no fish is as aggressive as a flowerhorn and carries the variety of looks this fish can have. Below are some examples of some high quality flowerhorns.

If you live in the states, you have access to high breeds from Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. But once again.... Flowerhorn = 1 fish 1 tank :) So you may not want to waste 120G for one... they do fine in 55 gallons also :)

Yup Love flower horns :D I do have a black belt that is just aggersive if not more but thats a one off, every flowerhorn is aggressive! she rams the glass like a bull, jumps a bit out of the tank to try get your fingers but as the same time swims into my plam and just sits there.

Have to agree with the 1 fish per tank else you keep switching them when young, I have a 5inch in with some oscars and jags etc his not a bully yet but soon I think he has to go, same with my breeding pair female can hardly stay with the male his almost killed her 3 times!

really sweet fish to keep.
