you forgot, what also won't fit in their mouth

i don't recommend that anyone buys sp. temensis

thats why i said as long as it keeps up with cichla growth.
but i may have not phrased it very well...
i has 6 tems.:D
future breeding project.:naughty:

HOLY COW!!!! I have been on MFK for a little while but have never posted in the CICHLA forum. You guys are quick to help out others!:)

I'm just surprised there isn't a sticky with the basic care for P Bass. Anywho, it's late and I gotta get up at 4:30 so off to bed. I'll do some researching after work tomorrow.

THANKS AGAIN;)

i like any bass!
but prefer orinos,azuls,kelberi,pinima,temensis.
top five in order.

I keep my little ones in 55g and I have found that with more numbers you will test your nitrates and chance ammonia spike. I found that the cichla will let you know when it's time for a bigger tank. So I agree with Tongue with tank size. Temenis will need a bigger tank sooner and you will probably want more time to get another tank. I say any of the other described tank mates will work including cat's ( Tiger Shovelnose look great with P's imo) EXCEPT THE WOLF FISH! No no no you will need a very large tank to pull that off trust me. With the size tank you have now I would stick with just 2 cichla to house them as the other's have said 1.5-2 tops. I think you would like Mono's but they can obtain 24''+ giving the right condition's. Check out the threads and Sticky's And welcome to the sickness of the Cichla. I bet you get that bigger tank sooner then later. Monsterized!

Posted same time :D

I started my cichla in a 55 then dropped them to an 18 so the O wouldn't eat them...
then they went to the 55 a month or so later..
Then to a 150 then to a 110 150 leaked...
Then to the 250...
Then to a 125 to breed...

Now back to the 250 the current Cichla are about 3 years old from hatch to now... And the Female may work in a 125 for maybe another couple months.. But she would be pushin it hard...

Anywho... You may have 1.5-3 years with 1-3.... But beyond that is really upto the cichla... You will I GUARANTEE feel bad after they get larger to keep them in a 125.. But who knows.. that could spark you to get that monster tank :D

I like buying in 3's

Your such a Pimp.:D

:iagree:This statement is something that will run through your mind everyday after you get more CICHLA and that is a given. It's a passion for sure.

ive kept wolf fish with other fish on countless occasions and i have seen it done on countless occasions.
its true theres a slight chance it might snap any day,but in most occasions where the hoplias has been raised with other fish,it will be fine.
