New to Rope Fish - help on set up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No other store in my county carries ropes. I'm so glad psm does because I now have my beamer :) they have a decent variety here... elephant knife (I think that's what it's called, elephant something)... crazy cool looking monster fish. They seem to dedicate 3 tanks to the monster babies.

it is probably the elephant nose fish(I've got 3)

the elephant nose fish would be a great fish to add as long as you have 4 or more they do great with uj polys and are incredibly fun to watch but be warned they require pristine water and have tiny mouths and need large quantities of bloodworms so the 3(was 4 till recently) cost more than my 11 bichirs to feed since my bichirs eat tilapia

Yes, that's it! I don't want one but I sure enjoy seeing them! Such beauties!

they really are like little dolphins chasing and playing with each other and mine play with my hand when I feed them since I melt the bloodworms in a cup and slide it down the front glass of the tank to get it past the feeder fish

Since changing out the filter cartridges and adding the charcoal packs, my tank is no linger stinky and almost back to it's pristine state. All my bottom dwellers have resumed back to normalcy as well. The shrimp are back out scavaging, I think the monster pompon scared them along with the corys, as they all stayed hidden for the last few weeks. the EYC has been accepted in the community by all the cats and Beamer could care less its in there. 2 black mystery snails are zooming around with out being bothered.

Yes, that's a fork in the tank lol it's how I kabob the zucchini and cucumber to keep them down. They are Espy's (bn) favorite veggies. I feel much more relaxed that my tank and finned kids survived the sand debacle and things are going back to normal. Thank you all again for being so amazing!

Amazing! Keep up the good work :)

Fork thing is common, and good ingenuity. Don't worry I'm sure the plecos love you :D

yeah silverware is common here is last night when I did the daily swapping of the cucumber. I cut a cucumber in half and zip tie each half to a cucumber to a butter knife.

if you look around the pic you will see my different oddballs so make a game out of trying to identify each one

The 2nd from the left is a L137 Red fin Blue eye Bruno. The far left is a Red Fin Pleco. The other side of the L137 is either a L196 or an unknown species that I got from toyin via my LFS. The last is Waldo a rescue given to me by someone on the local forum who loved him
but could no longer house the 12" Gold Spot Common

Gar bottom right?

Fire eel in the bottom right I think :)

yes the far bottom right is my smaller fire eel Nero

at the far left next to the cucumber is the head of one of my ropes. Halfway up the picture you can see another rope. Below that rope is my longfin albino sengalus. Above those two pointed upwards on the glass is my smaller crazy fish. Under the floating frogbit you can see the other crazy fish floating upside down camouflaged by the frogbits roots. In the tubes you can see several more polys peeking at you. Also if you look by the heater on the right you can see the body of my wild caught sengalus that I never would've gotten if it wasn't for Hendre's awesome one
