New Whiptail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not retarded really. I just guessed also, LOL
Looks like little living thingies in the eggs to me. Could be baby chickens for all I know

Today I got a new whiptail, just because I could, and to make myself feel a little better. It is a Loricaria Lata, and my second, and the one I already have is a female. The new little guys a male. Not going to pursue this right now, but I may in the future try to exploit this. Here is a pic of him still in his bag.

Nice PU! Was it sold to you as a lata? It looks freakishly like any of mine which I'm STILL looking for a positive ID on. One tiny difference I see with yours is the circle around the eye like the dog from Spanky & our gang.

a lot of whiptails are just given Loricaria lata as there name, and a lot of times wrongly, due to the large amount of extremely similar species. its like archerfish that get mislabelled, and there are only about 7 of them. However, the lata is the most commonly available, and is very often correct, if you can tell the difference.

It takes an extremely well trained eye to know the differences between the over 100 species of whiptails.
