Come on Wes! It's so simple that a caveman can do it! Just GIVE him 20 GOOD workers and a few days to dig a pit next to a main river, insert some drain pipe, catching some adult silver to throw in the pond, and Axanthic fry will come out of it!the social economic structure is totally different from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. The aforementioned countries have a long history of aquaculture, probably for over 30 years in the Aquarium industry or more. Where as in Iquitos, people barely have electricity along the river, no glass fish tanks in most holding places. If they're going to breed anything it would be tilapia first. They are now beginning to put fish in ponds for rearing and small scale breeding, but nothing near the sophistication of what they've been doing in Asia. The mentality is different also...trust me, I'm Asian. and I've visited a handful of different countries in South American on a few occasions....
Dude! You ruin the fun! I was trying to help him to come to that common sense by himself. He may spit out some ridiculous idea along the way, before he gets there, but now it's over!Hey Einstein, wouldn't it be easier and much cheaper for a native to find out the breeding season and location of the wild fish and then just net them out and take the babies than trying to hire 20 men to make a pond and then go out and catch 100 adults and then trying to breed them and feed and take care of them from floods, predators and then someone has to be there 24/7 to make sure no one vandalizes- the list goes on. But you think you just dig a hole and throw s bunch of fish in and voila instant baby Xanthic arros. LMAO- you're not that bright.
BTW- the reason they farm Asian arros is because there is very few in the wild, otherwise they would all be wild caught too.

Alright.....alright......I did the most sensible thing and asked the arrow to fork over his passport and flight schedule..........you were right.......stamped in indonesia......then he entered brazil.....snuck across the border to Peru........then to LAX........unbelievable. .......Wes I would like my money back......

So let me get this right they go out take all the risks catching the aro
They take the fry then throw the adults back in
Why wouldn't you catch the adults take the fry then put the adults in a holding pond
If they did this for 2 or 3 seasons they would have collected enough not to have to risk going out and risking life
Or they could just keep going out doing the same job over and over again and hope they don't get knocked out of the boat by a arapaima
I'm not smart I have even been told I have a bone head but I know what I would do
