Oops, you say he did eat today but what have you been trying to feed him?..If you are trying pellets I would stick to them and give him a few more days before even trying them again. He might be still stressed and hasnt settled down yet but when he gets hungry enough and feels up to it he will eat something and it might as well be pellets. In my experience, zuls are not the stubborn eaters that kelberi are.

I tried feeding floating pellets, sinking pellets, worms, and shrimp. No to each. Just dumped 10 Goldie's followed by 12 Rosie's. I caved I guess thinking about it, should have waited to see if he ate tomorrow, but he was stressed so I at least wanted him fed. But now he knows it's possible here. Funny thing is my mono and my kelberi didn't eat a single one, maybe because they were full. Temensis chewed a couple but spit a lot out, and only the Rosie's never the Goldie's. Orino smoked a ton though lol. Never seen bass turn down live but they didn't have it ever before. Azul stuffed 4 huge Goldie's in his mouth, spit some out, then ate some more. Now he has a fat belly but still in the stress spot. Maybe it'll help.

Small update, after everything is nice and fed, azul moved from his stress spot to lower in the water column as did everything including my black Aro that always patrols the top, probably because they are crazy full. Nonetheless, the azul was hanging out happily with the other bass for a good half hour, still exhibiting stress colors, and has now gone back to the stress spot. Baby steps I guess, now that he's full hopefully he'll be smart enough to eat some pellets soon, and hopefully my other fish don't get a crazy taste for feeders now as well and go hold out by going off other food. Or become mean and chase the azul. Still undecided how I feel about giving in so now the azul knows feeders are a possibility in his new world, or will this good meal be just enough confidence he needs to do well. Exciting.

where did you get it?? I live in ontario too.

Shoot no I dont. Maybe floating plants may work the same, I can try that.

I would go with PVC or a (fake) log that would provide a retreat, and lessen chance of it becoming food. May look ugly but ...

I got 7 nice pieces of driftwood set up to make some nice caves though, catfish love em and other bass swim through em all the time, but the new guy doesnt use em unless he gets spooked from the top by something. then after 2 mins he comes right back up. funny because he hangs out behind the black aquarium stick on thermometer (that doesnt even work lol)
