New Wild Caught Azul adjustment problems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so there were about 6 goldfish left in there all day yesterday and the new guy didnt go after any of them again. has been only hanging out in his little spot again, nowhere else. also, unfortunately my temensis has been taking an interest in chasing him every now and again and showing very strong colours, and hangs around him a lot now. been on top of feeding them but hope it doesnt get worse with time. doing a water cahnge today, gunna take out the goldies, and hopefully the new guy will eat something new. what else should i try to get him to eat?

No Goldie's left when I got home. Did a water change. Azul has since left his spot in the corner for the single reason being the temensis won't leave it alone. Temensis has his hunting colors on and is continuously chasing it in circles. Azul is currently hiding in a cave occupied by catfish made out of driftwood pieces. He is the boss of the catfish but the temensis is creeping up behind the cave and trying to get him out, then continuously chasing him. Tried to feed after water change, temensis ate no floaters, ate a couple massivore but spit them mostly out. Azul ate nothing, again. Going to try shrimp and worms in an hour. Wonder if this was inevitable or just cuz I added goldfish, considering today is the first day of this. Looks like the azul couldn't totally fit it in his mouth, but I'm sure it's not going to help anything with him trying. Think he'll give up at some point? Azul is quick.

Tem didn't eat floaters this morning but ate massivore. Azul hiding in his cave with the catfish, and snaps at them every ionce in a while. Tem hasn't stopped chasing it but maybe it will now that it's well fed. Tries feeding the azul massivore, shrimp, and worms and no dice. Should I try bloodworms or something else? I don't wanna put live in there again, but how long can I wait before it has to be done so the azul doesn't starve? He's very stressed, ugly colors.

You need to get him out. Pellet train somewhere else get him big and then put him back with the tem.

X2, man get him out of there asap. He'll catch up to the Orino and Kelberi pretty quick, but not the Temensis. If you're powerfeeding him live should get big quick, then use Dieselmack's method to get him onto pellets and you'll be all set.

Well that's what I was gonna ask. I moved him to the quarantine and put the clown knife back in the big tank. Should I feed him minnows today considering he ate 3 days ago? Or should I hold out entirely and just starve him till he eats a pellet or shrimp? I found a dinky light I clipped above it, just a single bulb but it will do for now, and I put a nice ornament in there. Or again, should I power feed the crap out of him with feeders and try to pellet train when he gets close to big enough to be put back in?

Ive just added a 9" Atabapo pike to my Bass tank. When I first tried the Azul and Kelberi went nuts and tried to eat him so I built a divider.
I used egg crate made into a cube (16x16x24") and left him in there for a month till he was chunky and the Bass got bored of him. Once I moved the divider even the bigger 15" Kelberi shows no interest in him. Maybe this will work?!
