They have only been in the country for 24 hours tops so they're still settling and I'm expecting them to colour up a little more.

something tells me they are more special than run-of-the-mill mala.

I am pretty sure they are a Mala from Columbia that was being sold over here as Hoplias sp. Columbia last year. I saw them in the flesh and they are very attractive fish. That was a shop given name rather than any formal name. There is no doubt they are 'special'. I am trying to find room for one now. It would be a nice addition to my Hoplias collection.
