New years resolutions thread.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's actually very impressive and commendable, Esox. The change you made was a big one; it's one thing to manage to cut back on sugar or alcohol or whatever one's vice may be, but it's another thing altogether to quit cold turkey. Congrats!

Your new healthy diet will definitely ensure a longer, healthier life...or at least, it will certainly feel longer...:)

I still have a little sugar in cups of tea and coffee, and on my porridge for breakfast. But that type of sugary intake is measureable, you can physically see how much you are putting in.

If this year goes well then maybe next year's resolution is to even cut that sugar out too! Though that will be tougher as I hate my coffee, tea and porridge without at least a bit of sweetener.

Baby steps and all that.

Well, the end of January is fast approaching and I can say, hand on heart, that my new years resolution is going great. Plenty of temptation to sink into the depths of sugary oblivion, but I've remained strong.

Not one biscuit, slice of cake, dollop of ice cream, bar of chocolate or any other processed sugar laden confectionary has passed my lips.

Do I feel any better? Do I feel healthier? No! But even so, I'm sure that long term there will be some benefits somewhere, I simply couldn't go on the way I was.

Anybody else still going strong with their new year's resolutions?
Good for you, congrats for sticking to your guns.

Im completely failing at cutting out my ice coffee. I was good for about two weeks but last week one of my co workers and I have been working together as a team…as a team we have to start work at the same time and go home at the same time, he likes to get up early and finish early while I’m the opposite. I have agreed to start earlier which means Getting up at 5:30/6am. This is killing me and the only way to prevent myself from killing him is my ice coffee so all last week I’ve gave in. This week we are also working together and I will most likely get my coffees in the mornings, then hopefully I can get back on track.

oh and as a team we also travel to work in the same vehicle to our job site an hour away.

Well, if I had the choice of coffee or murder charge i think i'd choose coffee everytime, lol. Have you seen anyone about these macabre thoughts you get, lol.

Yep, one step at a time. I was never a big fan of sweets even as a kid, and as an adult I gradually moved away from sweetening anything...cereal, oatmeal ("porridge" to you...), tea, coffee (sooooo much coffee...), you name it. Trust me, after a while you stop missing the sweet sugar "hit". I can still enjoy the occasional cup of tea with a tiny dollop of honey, but the idea of sweetened coffee pretty much sickens me now. Same thing with cereal or oatmeal.

Even today, I will bet that not eating sugar at breakfast this morning was easier for you than it was a month ago?

I laughed so hard at this that I almost snorted a lungful of coffee...black and unsweetened...right out my nose! :)

Haha are you suggesting these are not normal urges to have at 6:30am? I thought I was just self medicating with my ice coffee. I mean it was a pretty easy choice to make

This made me grin when I read it, your pain is my pleasure haha

Wow, I seem to recall an earlier exchange with that pain/pleasure theme, but I had no idea you were a dominatrix...

...well, actually, I kinda suspected, and now... :naughty:

Yes, there's a pattern developing. First she was laughing at you freezing your nads off, and now her poor work colleague is in mortal danger. I reckon she has a "dark passenger", maybe like a female version of Dexter Morgan! Lol.
