Newbie to Poly species

I would avoid the big 3 just because of size thats ornate, weeksii, and teugelsi. In my opinion the 3 best starters are sengalus, delhezi, and polli. They are all active with great personalities and won't break the bank

aww, I was just looking at the teugelsi. I guess it helps narrow my search though. I will have to visit an different fs that has some of the ujs to see them in person. I don't know if its the images I'm looking at or what, but some of them I wouldn't be able to tell two apart.

You may not be able to name them but they look different enough to tell them apart. Most anyway.

yeah teugs are one of my favorites. Once you get a couple you will start to be able to recognize them pretty easy

Just went through that poly bite thread... Do ujs eat each other or tankmates in general less frequently compared to ljs?

lol you saw that did you lol

to put your worries to rest upperjaws are generally less cannibalistic. The worst offender in upperjaws are ornates which are more likely to have a bad attitude which sucks since they are the best looking. The big thing is making sure their tankmates don't fit in their mouth. With saying that lowerjaws have bigger mouths and the most aggressive are endlis

Welcome! Senegals are awesome polys for sure, I've gota duo and they're super busy! Upper jaws aren't at all great at eating tankmates and I've never seen mine bother anyone else in the tank, compared to lower jaws much safer.

125 is an awesome size and I wish you luck :)

As for eating other polys not so much. I have a big female del who could eat a few of my ropes and at least one other poly just because it would fit in her mouth never even seen her look at them weird, and they are all over each other alot of the time. I did start this tank with 6 black skirt tetras and I'm down to 3, that could be one of the dels or the ctenapoma. Not sure. I did catch one of the dels with a synodontis in its mouth. So other non poly tank mates are possibly on the menu depending on size. Oh the poly and the small rope are smaller then the synodontis.
