here in the US, we believe in freedom of speech and expression.
Hello; Thought of one more example. One I believe someone else used earlier. The issue is not if a citizen has the right to peaceful protest. The issue is where and when such freedoms can be expressed. I actually do not recommend you do this but what happens if you start a thread on this forum that is specifically about religion, politics or guns?

You don't seem to think about the bigger picture behind the protests, which is fine, just be more educated before you whine about it on a FISH forum. I'm not just talking to the person I'm responding to here, I'm talking to everyone in this thread.
Hello; for myself at least I am aware off the "bigger picture" behind the protests. I understand many of the stated reasons for the various protests. The reasons became more numerous after a while so it is not clear if you refer to a specific one or all the various protest reasons. That the players or any other citizen has a right to peaceful protest is not the problem. The reasons for such protests are not the problem.
The problem is doing a protest during the flag ceremony. Not complex at all.

they wouldn't put up with it because theyre COMMUNIST countries ruled by DICTATORS, where here in the US, we believe in freedom of speech and expression. This covers protests of any kind, by the way, as long as they aren't violent. You don't seem to think about the bigger picture behind the protests, which is fine, just be more educated before you whine about it on a FISH forum. I'm not just talking to the person I'm responding to here, I'm talking to everyone in this thread. Disrespecting the flag is actually a whole different issue, because kneeling isn't defined as disrespect. Sitting is. The reason Colin chose to kneel instead of sit is because it isn't disrespectful to the flag. What is disrespectful to the flag is wearing it on clothing, printing it on any disposable object (napkins, plates, paper, ect) and using it as a logo or an advertisement. My sources for this? The flag code. Look it up.
I'm no whiner but I guess the retort in the quoted post includes me.
One does not have freedom of speech to walk around their place of employment on their employer's property making protests and political displays so why should it be acceptable for these overpaid man boys to do so? I don't see them pulling this **** during one of the many lovefests that ESPN aires all day long nor on any other talk shows that they might be brought on as guest....those venues are just as much of a public platform as any football stadium.
Yeah, this is a fish forum and this thread happens to be in The Lounge where most of the topics are not fish related.
I asked someone the other day, football season is well over so what have all the kneelers and fist raisers been up lately to further their gripes and causes?...I mean hey, they may not be on the field and in uniform but there still is a "big picture".....right?

Hello; This is an especially good question. Very clever and a good job.

hello; I have another thought this question spawned. I live too far from any NFL team base to get local radio or TV but I am close to Knoxville TN. There are lots of media about the Vols in various forms so it might be that NFL towns have the same sort of thing.
Do the NFL players go on these media outlets and if so has anyone heard, seen or read about continuing their protest in these other such media?

I haven't heard of very many instances and I watch as much news,if not more,as the next guy.

The NFL is not a protected place where NY and all protests are legal. It's a company and companies have the right to dictate what they deem appropriate.

Disrespect cannot be defined in 1 actually but more of an individual opinion.

I have no problem with this. Stay in the locker room if you don't want to stand.

Hello; I just read this article by Mike Florio. While I follow the tactic he proposes I do not understand completely why such an approach might appeal to very many players. I have been under the impression the total percentage of active protesters has not been all that large.
Perhaps a large part now is the power struggle between the player unions and the owners. A strategy to get more say so by the union?

If in fact there is a large enough willing player population for this strategy to be effective then it is pretty clear the coming season will be as bad or worse than last year in terms of protests.
