I was wondering if anyone has any bait/lure pointers for fall night fishing on a Pennsylvania lake. I'm looking for largemouths but would settle for just about anything. I've been pulling jitterbugs and other topwater baits over the surface but have had no luck as of yet. I'm thinking of going with live bait tomorrow night and would be happy to hear any ideas on what would be good. If it helps the temperature is around 60 degrees and i'll be going between 10pm and 2pm.

My only tip is to go a different time of day. I wouldnt think that the largemouth bass are going to be very active at that time of night. Night fishing is catfishing. For largemouths I have had a lot of luck with buzz baits this time of year. For catfish, the stinkier the better, your gonna need a decent size line on your reel and at least a medium action rod and reel.

Nice, thanks man. I'm going out after the game tomorrow with my buddy and were just trying to catch anything. Catfish would be great. What kind of bait stinks? Do you have any brands or stuff you recommend?

Easiest catfish bait to make homeade is limberger cheese yes I know it is mispeleed and it stinks like bad feet and 1 pound of the cheapest fatest hamburger you can get mix it together and add some shreaded cotton balls mix that in really good , I use that here in illinois and I catch alot of catfish on it and some big ones to I might add

or try the tried and true nightcrawler, or try and get some shad take a whole shad cut it in the middle so it has some "gut" pocket on each end and use a peice of that

some people I know use "sonny's" catfish dip bait but I have never tried it Good luck and tell us how it went O you would be surprised what slow rolling a spinner bait will bring up ;)

Thats great buddy. Should I cook the meat before I mix it with the cheese and cotton balls? Or just ball it up and hook it. I'm going to try a couple of these things and I'll definitely let you know how it goes. Any more ideas are welcome, im going to make a checklist and figure out what works best at the lake. Thanks guys.

catfish charlie is a good brand but i would set up some chum during the day for you to fish at night.

Outside tip, with stinky bait, and at night, bring a LOT of bugspray. Don't underestimate Mosquitoes because of the cold.

I was in a night fishing tournament 5 times this year. Those topwater baits are not going to work this time of the year unless you get REALLY lucky.

I founded that the spinner bait is a good choice, plus rubber was also a big thing in the night fishing tournaments.

Every bait that will work in the light will work in the dark believe it or not.
